The main purpose of honing stone is to correct and restore the cutting properties of the knife by removing burrs and other minor damages and forming a micro-groove. Ruby honing stone from prostaStal is a convenient way to quickly restore the cutting properties of a knife and remove rough chips on the cutting edge. It is designed for quick and high-quality sharpening and deburring. But the main keyword here is the correction of the cutting edge, not sharpening, as some customers may think. It is best suited for knives with a hardness of 54-60 units on the Rockwell scale. For knives with a higher hardness, honing stone is not recommended, as it can chip off parts of the cutting edge or not adjust it effectively.
As for working with honing stone, it is important to maintain the angle of sharpening the knife. In the field, it can be difficult to restore its accuracy, so you need to apply the knife with the cutting edge to the honing stone and find the optimal angle by feel. honing stoneite should be along the cutting edge, and the knife should be directed with the cutting edge towards you and drawn along the honing stone in the direction of yourself (and vice versa). In this way, a microcut of the cutting edge is formed.

It is necessary to make about 10-15 movements on each side. You can check the result using a piece of paper.
After work, honing stone may remain contaminated with microparticles of metal. To remove them, you can use gun oil, Johnson's Baby oil, or wet wipes. If necessary, honing stone can be washed with a washcloth and soap.
honing stone has a convenient holder with six eyelets at a distance of 2 cm and 2 ties included. Its diameter is 10 mm, length - 100 mm, grit - 5000. It can be attached to the sheath of a knife or a backpack using paracord. You can also purchase a Molly lock attachment to attach the honing stone to the Molly system.
