Ivan Pavlovich Pulyuy, an outstanding Ukrainian scientist, was born on February 2, 1845 in the town of Hrymailov, Ternopil Oblast. His life and scientific path expresses his greatness and significance not only for Ukraine, but also for the whole world.
Pului became the first among his relatives to be famous for physics and electrical engineering, whose achievements went far beyond the borders of his homeland. His contribution to the development of science and technology is extremely significant, and his name has become a symbol of the greatness of the Ukrainian people.
Ivan Pulyuy graduated from the Ternopil Gymnasium with honors and continued his education at the theology and philosophy faculties of the University of Vienna. In 1872-1874, he worked as a scientist in the physics laboratory of Professor von Lang and was an associate professor at the University of Vienna. And in 1875, as an excellent student of the Austrian Ministry of Education, he increased his professional knowledge at the University of Strasbourg under the guidance of Professor August Kundt.
However, the most outstanding achievement of Ivan Puluy was his inventive genius, which was emphasized in his work with X-rays. He became the first person in the world to invent this unique type of radiation, opening new horizons for science and medicine.
Pului and Röntgen are peers. And it so happened that at the age of thirty, their paths crossed: in 1875, both worked in the same laboratory of the University of Strasbourg under the leadership of the already mentioned professor August Kundt. This acquaintance did not develop into a close friendship, although after Strasbourg they returned and exchanged letters in which they shared the results of their research. Roentgen, in particular, was a well-known lamp
Pulyua, thanks to which it was possible to see these mysterious X-rays.
Using this lamp, Ivan Puluy took pictures, which later came to be called X-ray pictures. But a German physicist in 1895 was the first to report on these changes. This is how Ivan Pulyuy reacted to it. We present his reaction, based on his son's recollections: "... Father read the news about the discovery of X-rays while still lying in bed. Jumping out of bed and wrapping his hands around his head, he repeatedly exclaimed: "My lamp! My lamp!..."... Pouliy sent Röntgen a letter with a request to use the answers, his lamp was used in experiments. He never received the answers. When Röntgen was awarded the Nobel Prize, he avoided explaining the nature of his discovery. And in his will he ordered to destroy all his X-ray records, which was done."
In addition, it is worth noting that Puluy also developed a summer chamber (freezer), which became invaluable outside the scope of product storage. This invention contributed to maintaining food security and providing people with affordable and quality products throughout the year.
Ivan Pavlovich Pulyuy is the pride and symbol of the power of Ukrainian science. His achievements testify to the powerful potential and talent of the Ukrainian people, and his inventions will forever remain in history as an immortal contribution to Ukrainian spirituality.
