Concept & Origin of the Name
In ancient Slavic mythology, Nav (Navi) represents the Otherworld — the subterranean realm of ancestral spirits, primeval calm, and shadow. It was traditionally perceived as a dark, cold expanse cloaked in eternal haze and impenetrable mist.
The root and suffix "-yar" designates an agent, master, or personification of a primal force — one who moves purposefully through darkness and harnesses the power of the unseen realm.
"Navyar — he who belongs to Nav, commands its hidden power, and walks silently through the Otherworld's mist."
This blade was created in honor of the warriors of the "Tuman" Special Operations Detachment. Formed in 2023 on the foundation of the 12th "Azov" Brigade's sniper company, the unit's core comprises experienced Azov veterans and volunteers from the defense and relief efforts in Mariupol. On November 1, 2025, the unit joined the 1st Corps of the NGU "Azov" as the "Tuman" Special Operations Detachment. "Navyar" is a tactical blade forged for those who operate unseen, strike with surgical precision, and leave no trace.
