Handmade Tanto Knives
A tanto knife has a Japanese-inspired blade profile: instead of a curved belly, the edge meets a short, angled front edge, forming a reinforced tip with plenty of steel behind it. That geometry gives you a strong point for working into tough materials and a straight main edge that is easy to control. Our tanto knives, from a classic tanto tactical knife to a fully custom tanto knife, are made for duty, field work and everyday carry, and they are just as often chosen as a gift.
You will find both single tanto knives and double tanto sets here: two separate matching knives with a paired engraving.
How We Make Them
- Steel: D2/X12MF tool steel, hardened to 58–60 HRC for a good balance of edge retention and toughness.
- Handle: Micarta or G10, chosen for a secure grip in wet or cold conditions.
- Blade coating: black polymer, stonewash/etching or satin.
- Sheath: molded ABS plastic with MOLLE-lok, Tek-Lok or free-hanging (dangler) mounts.
- Options: lanyard, a fire starter (ferro rod) or a ceramic honing rod carried in the sheath.
Make It Yours
Every tanto knife on this page is an example of what we have made. You can change the blade coating, the handle color and material, and the laser engraving: a name, a callsign, a date, a quote or your own design. Each knife is made to order. To discuss a custom tanto, message us on WhatsApp.
Shipping
We ship from Ukraine to the USA, Canada, Europe and other countries. Details are on the Payment and Delivery page. Knife carry rules differ by country and US state, so please check your local law before ordering.
Tanto Knife FAQ
Tanto vs drop point: what is the difference?
A drop point has a curved belly that slices smoothly and suits hunting and general outdoor tasks. A tanto trades that belly for a straight edge and an angular, reinforced tip, so it is better at work that loads the point. We compare both in detail in Tanto or Drop Point: How to Choose Blade Geometry.
What is a tanto blade good for?
Tasks where tip strength matters: cutting into packaging, straps, cord and hard materials, and general utility work in the field. The straight edge also makes controlled push cuts easy.
Do you make double tanto sets?
Yes. A double tanto set is two tanto knives, each in its own sheath, with a paired engraving, often ordered as a matching gift for two people. See our double knife sets.
